Austria has no low-emission zone or environmental sticker for passenger cars, and Vienna has no congestion charge. In an EV there is nothing to register or display apart from the motorway vignette: just drive, park and charge. Vienna's public network is dense: Wien Energie runs more than 2,500 public charging points across the districts, most of them AC posts at the kerb. Its rapid hubs are on the Gürtel, at Erdberg and Simmering near the A4, and in Liesing on the southern edge of the city. The app shows what's available live.
The whole of Vienna is a short-term parking zone (Kurzparkzone) Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 22:00 (some shopping streets differ), with a two-hour limit on a paid ticket or Handyparken. At public charging points only electric cars that are actually charging may stop between 08:00 and 22:00 — and while you charge there you pay no parking fee. Once the car is charged, unplug and move on. A free RFID card makes starting a charge quick once you're parked.
